POSITION SUMMARY

The Entrepreneur in Residence will deliver key enterprise projects for both Business Launchpad (BLP) and Trident Business Centre(TBC) on time and in budget. In particular, the successful candidate will take the lead on developing a sustainable social enterprise / business model for our new Battersea location at Cauis House in line with our strategic goals.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

A) Battersea Project

  • Set up and developing a sustainable business model and long term strategy for Caius House
  • Establish a BLP trading arm in Battersea
  • Overall management and liaison with the BLP staff at Caius House
  • Identifying, developing and bringing in new revenue generating youth-led ventures to Caius House
  • Overseeing usage of the space / access and the 3 main activities: kitchen space, co working and Digilab
  • On boarding new kitchen and Blockchain coworking members
  • Marketing and development to fill spaces
  • Coordinating enterprise support opportunities for young people

B) Battersea Project – Outreach

  • To lead on outreach activities for the BLP Battersea location
  • To identify opportunities for collaboration and develop partnerships with local organisations in Battersea such as local youth centres, clubs, colleges and other youth / enterprise organisations
  • Local community engagement with young people, food startups and Blockchain entrepreneurs through workshops, markets and other events

C) Monitoring and Reporting

  • To be responsible for maintaining up to date records regarding all activities
  • To complete all monitoring and reporting as required by the senior management team and any other stakeholders

D) General

  • Any other duties appropriate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.

Role Purpose and Role Dimensions:

To be responsible for the set up of BLP’s trading arm in Battersea.

To develop an effective business model for BLP’s Battersea project.

To assume leadership of the space (Caius House Battersea).

Financial Dimensions:

Reporting to the Finance Manager and liaising with the rest of the finance team.

Other Considerations:

This post is open to new ways of working and you will be required to comply with BLP’s guidance on home, flexible and mobile working including the use of electronic equipment.

  • Being aware of BLP’s responsibilities under the GDPR for the security, accuracy and relevance of personal data held, ensuring that all administrative and financial processes also comply.
  • Maintaining customer records and archive systems in accordance with departmental procedures and policies as well as statutory requirements.

  • Treating all information acquired through employment, both formally and informally, in confidence.  There are strict rules and protocols defining employee access to and use of the BLP’s databases.  Any breach of these rules and protocols will be subject to disciplinary investigation. There are internal procedures in place for employees to raise matters of concern regarding such issues as bad practice or mismanagement.

This will involve:

  • Participating in training to demonstrate competence.
  • Undertaking training as required for the role.
  • Participating in the development, implementation and monitoring of service plans.
  • Championing the professional integrity of the service.

 

Start-up Business Coach – Trainer

REPORTS TO

Head of Coaching

POSITION SUMMARY

To provide, in consultation with the Head of Coaching a high quality start up business coaching, planning, training and development programme for Pre-start and Post-start up clients aged 16-30, with a focus to young people who are not in employment, education or training (NEET). Experience in coaching and either running your own business currently or previously or working with start-ups is essential.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

A) Coaching Service

·Deliver BLP’s coaching service which includes coaching clients at various business stages, performing initial assessments and responding to enquiries

·Develop relationships with coaching providers and other key partners and offer complementary enterprise and coaching support where needed

B) Client Coaching

·Provide coaching support to help to improve leadership skills and furnish young people with the skills needed to overcome life and business challenges

·Maintain up to date professional knowledge and information pertaining to the start-up and development of a business or social enterprise

·Provide quality information and / or guidance with the aim of facilitating clients in starting their own business or social enterprise

·Refer clients to external specialist advice as and when required to meet client need

·Have a good understanding of the barriers faced by young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET).

·Evaluate the development progress of clients to increase quality of service

C) Client Training

·Organise and/or deliver start-up business trainings and group coaching programmes

·Contribute to the development and review of client support materials where required

D) Southwark and Battersea Project

·To work with the senior management team in supporting the development and delivery of the Battersea and Southwark projects.

E) Monitoring

·To provide in a prescribed format, monthly statistics for all support provided to clients

·To review with the Head of Coaching on a regular basis, the progress of individual clients

·To review with the Head of Coaching regularly, the performance of the programme against targets

·To provide activity reports indicating how time has been spent in delivering the outputs on the project

·Participate in evaluation, report writing and the development of exit strategies where appropriate

F) General

·To assist with social media and marketing of BLP and TBC

·To abide by BLP’s data protection policies as governed by GDPR

·Any other duties appropriate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training
